A Message From Joanne Crocker

A message from Joanne Crocker It has been lovely to see all the children returning to school full of enthusiasm and having the weather to enjoy our outside space. We now have a great variety of objects that the children have used very creatively to form obstacle courses, castles and dens. There is another table tennis table to provide new sporting opportunities and the children now have access to the whole forest school area during breaks as well as specific sessions. It was fantastic to see the whole school team supporting forest school over the holiday and I think the staff had as much fun as the children. All the money raised will go straight back into developing our outside space and will directly benefit the children. I am very proud to be part of a team that has been so willing to give up their free time to build, pave and paint to create the best environment we can for the children. We were lucky enough to secure a ticket to a live performance of The Lorax put on by Bristol Old Vic, which the children enjoyed and also sparked some great discussion about the values that are important to them. We have also had Y6 out and about gaining confidence on their bikes and learning road craft on a Bikeability course. As you will be aware Mrs Dinham has been off work since the end of February. We were hoping to be able to welcome her back after Easter, however she still needs a little more time at home with her family. During the Spring term Mrs Sanderson kindly stepped in to fill this role so we were able to maintain continuity for the children, whilst we were teaching remotely. This term, Mrs Alison Preece will be joining our team to teach in Squirrel class on a Thursday and Friday. We will also be welcoming Mr David Bidgood who will be standing in for Mrs Sanderson as she will be temporarily absent. We are looking forward to the point where we can welcome you back onto the site, but until then please do get in touch by phone, email or at the gate. We are all still very much available and keen to maintain our partnership. Joanne Crocker Assistant Executive Head of the Small Schools’ Hub   Categories: 1 CategorySchool News
